Rashid Talha

I am enrolled in the mathematics section of the Postgraduate Diploma Programme at the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Italy.

Studies:

I hold a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Pakistan. I was awarded the President's Gold Medal as the highest-ranking student in my cohort, and the Rector's Gold Medal for the best final-year project. My thesis titled “Ehresmann Connections on Fibre Bundles” was supervised by Dr Tooba Feroze.

Previously, I received a DipHE in mathematics and physics from the University of Warwick, UK. This qualification comprises the first two years of the joint integrated master's programme in mathematics and physics.

Research:

My research interests lie at the interface of mathematics and theoretical physics, with a particular focus on differential geometry and its applications to gravitational physics, including black holes and aspects of quantum gravity. I am also interested in gauge and topological field theories, and in the algebraic, geometric, and topological ideas that underpin them.

My brief CV is available here. Details about some of my current and past projects can be found here, and selected lecture notes are available here.

Coding:

I use Python, Julia, Mathematica, and C for scientific programming, including numerical simulations, symbolic computations, and data analysis. I also maintain a repository of LaTeX templates and convenient header files that I use regularly in my work.
